Reno, Oct 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The United States experienced another significant earthquake on Thursday when a 5.6 magnitude quake struck near Reno. The US Geological Survey reported on Thursday that the quake struck about 56 km from Reno, Nevada.

No injuries or damage has been reported so far. Official say the quake hit around 0637 GMT. It is estimated that it struck at a depth of 13km. The area of the quake is sparsely populated so officials don’t expect any major damage or injuries.

The people of Turkey didn’t have the same luxury earlier this week. On Sunday, a 7.2 quake struck the European country causing massive damage and killing hundreds of people. The official death toll currently stands at over 500 people. Miracles continue to happen as rescuers keep pulling survivors out of the rubbles after days.

It is estimated that the quake flattened at least 2,000 buildings. The officials are delivering tents and humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the disaster. Several countries are flying rescuers and other forms of assistance into the country to help avert any major humanitarian crisis which might arise in the wake of the disaster.

The biggest earthquake of the year is the 9.0 quake that triggered the devastating tsunami earlier this year. About 25,000 people died from that incident.
