Laura Dekker Middelburg, July 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fourteen year old Laura Dekker is not your normal teenager. The youngster was born in a yacht while her parents were sailing round the world fourteen years ago. She was born in New Zealand waters and that means the girl whose parents are Dutch, is a New Zealander as well. She holds the passport of both countries. Laura Dekker wants to sail around the world and that too, all alone.

The Dutch court granted Laura the go ahead to sail solo around the world, even though because of Laura’s solo sail plan the government and a youth protection organization were at loggerheads. The court has granted her permission even though the government officials believe that it is too risky for Laura to sail at her age alone. However the youth protection organization believes Laura is set and ready to sail, despite being just 14 years old.

Laura’s plan to start her voyage is in advanced stages so much so that she has decorated her boat with new cushions and sail. She chose her favorite colors of red and has even put up a sunshade. She also has her route well mapped out and a plan ‘B’ route to avoid the pirates at the Gulf of Aden. According to the route and its plans, it will take two years for Laura to complete her mission.
