Drew Peterson has been indicted with the charges of murdering his third wifeMay 8th, 2009 - 4:33 pm ICT by GD
The former police sergeant, who was living a low life after the disappearance of his fourth wife, has been finally arrested by the authorities in Illinois on Thursday, 7th May, 2009. The police had been pursuing Peterson for almost one and half years, since the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. Drew Peterson was a Chicago-area police sergeant and he has been indicted with charges of two counts of murder in the fatal drowning case of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
In 2004, Savio was found dead in an empty bathtub. She had suffered a heavy head wound and her hair was soaked with blood. According to the indictment the incident took place “on or about Feb. 29, 2004″ when Peterson “caused Kathleen Savio to inhale fluid.” According to sources the incident had taken place just before the divorce settlement between the Peterson and Savio. Initially her death was considered to be an accident but the authorities now believe that it was a case of homicide which was posed as an accident.
Kathleen Savio’s family had long suspected Peterson’s involvement in the case however it was only on Thursday that Peterson could be indicted. Henry Savio, Kathleen’s 73 year old father and another of his daughter filed a lawsuit of wrongful death against Drew Peterson, last month. However, it must be mentioned that Peterson’s son with Kathleen Savio has provided a strong alibi for Peterson and he believes that his father is innocent.
There was renewed suspicion on Peterson’s activities when his fourth wife went missing. But the police are yet to place a charge on him relating to the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.
