Aug 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the radio talk show host who gained immense negative publicity for using the N-word as many as eleven times during an on-air conversation with a black woman, has divulged in a recent interview that she intends to end her career spanning across three decades on radio at the end of this year when her contract with the talk show expires. The 63-year-old radio presenter sparked a huge controversy recently when she described a female black caller as ‘hypersensitive’ for taking offense at being racially taunted by her white husband’s family and friends while even going to the extent of saying the N-word repeatedly on air.
Despite the fact that Dr. Laura Schlessinger expressed her apology emphasizing that what she had done was indeed wrong, it failed to please the critics who were left outraged by her remarks. Now, it seems that the controversy surrounding her on-air comments has had a resounding impact on the radio host who has taken the decision to dump the show after the contract ends in December citing her wish to regain her first amendment rights as the reason. Dr. Laura Schlessinger made an appearance on “Larry King Live” on Tuesday night where she hinted that she wants to be able to ventilate her thoughts without being the target of such widespread attack.
Despite the fact that the radio chat show host has confirmed that she doesn’t wish to renew her contract, Dr. Laura Schlessinger made it very clear that she does not have any intentions of retiring as she believes she is far ‘too young’ for that.
