- SAN FRANCISCO (BNO NEWS) — Two trains light rail trains collided in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, officials told BNO News. Many people were believed to be injured.
The accident happened at around 3 p.m. local time at West Portal Station, located at West Portal Drive and Ulloa Street. It involved two San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MUNI) trains.
A service announcement from SF Muni warned people of “major service delays” on the K, L and M lines due to the accident. There is no light rail service between the West Portal and Castro station. Shuttle busses are in service between those two buses and people are advised to consider alternate routs. It is unknown how long the service disruptions will continue.
Officials told KOVR-TV that at least 60 people were injured in the crash, but most of them appear not be life-threatening.
Further information was not immediately available.
