Dozens dead in Iranian plane crash

- MASHHAD, Iran (BNO NEWS) — A passenger plane belonging to Aria Air crash-landed in northeast Iran on Friday evening, state media reported. Dozens of people were reported dead.
The crash happened in the northeastern city of Mashhad as the plane was attempting an emergency landing due to undisclosed difficulties. The plane, an Ilyushin II-62M, took off from Tehran and was en-route to an airport in Mashhad.
Initial reports say at least 30 people were killed while another 20 people were injured in the incident.
A total of 160 passengers and crew members were on board the plane.
The crash comes only a week after another Iranian airliner crashed in the country, killing all 168 passengers on board.
