Dozen dead after freight train derails in Djibouti
July 27th, 2009 - 7:42 pm ICT by adminHOLL-HOLL, Djibouti (BNO NEWS) — At least 13 people were killed after a freight train derailed near the Djibouti town of Holl-Holl on Sunday afternoon, state media reported on Monday. Dozens of other passengers were injured.
The freight train was carrying cattle and derailed near a military base close to the town of Holl-Holl. The locomotive and seven cars derailed, trapping the camels inside. A total of 24 people were injured in the accident, including 9 people with serious injuries.
Commerce Minister Rifki Abdoulkader and other government officials went to the scene to asses the accident.
