Dove World Outreach Church To Go Ahead With Qur’an Burning Plan

Gainesville, Sep 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Dove World Outreach Center which is making news across the world for its plans to torch copies of the Islamic holy book of Qur’an on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks this Saturday is likely to go ahead with its plans. Despite the fact that the proposal of the Gainesville, Florida church has outraged the Muslim population all across the world, Pastor Terry Jones who is associated with the evangelical church has indicated that the religious organization would be going ahead with what is being pitched as the “International Burn A Qur’an Day.”
While talking to the media outlets on Tuesday in the wake of the worldwide outrage that their initiative has triggered across the globe, Pastor Terry Jones defended the decision of the church by saying that it was only burning the book and was not taking the lives of innocent people to showcase their protest against the terrorist attacks. The pastor also responded to the criticism that the church has been facing from top U.S. commander in Afghanistan that the act would endanger the lives of American troops as well as civilians, saying that the general needs to take note of radical Islam and tell them to stop while it made clear to them that the Americans would not bow down to the terrorism unleashed by them.
The proposal by the Dove World Outreach Center has attracted sharp criticism from the Muslim countries across the world as well as the many prominent U.S political leaders who have lashed out at the church for its plans to carry out the controversial act.

It’s too bad that our Luke warm American Christians could not be as devoted and disciplined as the Muslims. Perhaps if Christians stood up and believed in the bible as much as the Muslims believe in the Qur’an. People would fear the Lord Jesus Christ and this country would be a far better place to live.

Don’t do unto others what you don’t want them to do unto you. Follow the Golden rule here and burning of anything is not the answer. It is not ok with us that they should burn our Bibles or our country’s flag any more than it is right for us to burn their Quran or their flag. Lets respect one another as human beings with differences. You don’t win them over by burning their Quran. That may be what you FEEL like doing but it won’t fix anything. And it will only makes things worse for the entire world. It may be our RIGHT to free speech but sometimes (like Jesus) we need to be silent in the face of our opposition. I think this is one of those times.

Well, we are in a war with Islam. Unfortunately, most of our country does not know it — sort of like America Firsters before WWII. Once you are in a war, they only thing to do is win it.
Here is the essential difference. In Muslim countries every day anyone who is not a Muslim is at risk for losing their lives, or worst, and the world says nothing. Here a protest against Islam - our common enemy — is made, and the world protests. Maybe we should just give up now and save us all a lot of trouble. Women would need, of course, get out a burka (or whatever that degrading garment is called) and men should stop shaving and grow a beard.
The world would be a better place without Islam.

Instead of burning the book of God, why not read and understand it. Once you do, you WILL realize that it is the same God that sent Moses, Jesus and Mohammad as prophets. Torah, the old testament and the Koran are ALL books of God.

Dear Rev. Jones,
I am a veteran and swore to uphold the constitution. I agree with you that you have the right to burn any book you want. It is the freedom millions of service personnel including myself have helped preserve. With that said, please don’t go through with your plan to burn the Koran. You are getting tremendous public attention here in the middle east. I work in Saudi Arabia just a few miles from Mecca. As of today we can walk through the grocery store with a Desert Storm Veteran T-shirt on and have people come up and say thank you. If you go through with this not one American will ever be able to display our heritage or show our pride in the USA over seas. When you burn “that book” I will have to burn “that T-shirt”, because you will create a rage like has never been seen.
What you will accomplish is this. The radicals that you so want to show you are not afraid, could care less they already hate you. The average guy on the streets here, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia and the list goes on will now hate me and every other American living, working or stationed in these countries. Why spread hate. There is enough already. If you must go through with burning this book please fly to Jeddah, rent a car, and drive to the outskirts of Mecca stand at the checkpoint and burn it. That way they will know you are not scared of the “devil” that is Islam.

If I were to burn, for example, a Catholic Bible, would Cathloics run wild in the street killing innocent people? I somehow doubt that would happen. Yet if the Qur’an is set on fire, Muslims will run wild in the streets killing everyone would is not one of them. Does anything more really need to be said?
A few years ago, some poor Christian in Pakistan was selling newspapers around the corner from the front os a mosque. The poor sole made the mistake of leaning his pile of papers against the mosque. For this “horrible” crime he was placed on trial for his life (after the usual riot and shouts of defaming Islam). Simply put, Islam seems to equal ignore and sometimes all that you can do with the ignornant is get rid of them.
Are all Muslims evil. Of course not, but polls seem to say 20% or so favor the terrorists. I suppose we could find “good” Germans during the Nazi era, but we still bombed Germany.
In the end, unless we realize the danger and act to counter it, we may as well dust off the burka’s and start growing beards.

Burning any Holy Book would be extreme but then so is flying an airplane into the towers or strapping on an explosive device and walking into a crowded area to blow up.
I support Terry in that at least someone is making a statement, good or bad. It is to bad he jammed out. It shows American’s are afraid of the Muslims, from the reaction he recieved.
Terry should have insisted on the Mosque in New York being moved immediatly as well as had this in writing. The Muslims could have bee made to turn this property into a peace park representing all Cultures and religions to enjoy. This would have been in good faith, excuse the pun.
If you say you are going to do something either have the balls to carry it or have a good back up compromise that can work for everyone.
If America is backing down from the Muslims what would you people do with a real threat.
