Cairo, Apr 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In what can be termed as a wonderful archaeological discovery, a group of archaeologists have found a door to the afterlife and its origin can be traced back to 3500 years. It was located at the tomb of an elite Egyptian official in Luxor. The door is actually a pink granite slab which is six feet long and imbued with religious quotes. It has been learnt that the door has been found in the tomb of User, who used to be Queen Hatshepsut’s chief minister. User was a very important political figure in Egypt in 15th Century B.C and held several prominent posts in his lifetime as the historians have found out.
Such doors have been found in a number of Egyptian tombs. The Egyptians believed in afterlife strongly and they also thought that such doors help the spirit of the deceased to make the journey to the world of the dead. The doors were often placed at the ancient Egyptian tombs and they were placed opposite tables where drink and food were kept. Egypt has an interesting history comprising several thousand years and there are a lot of parts in it that are still shrouded in mystery. The inscriptions on the door are yet to be read in details.
The archaeologists are of the opinion that the discovery of the door may unveil hitherto unknown facts about User and the queen Hatshepsut. The queen was among the most influential women rulers who reigned in Egypt. It is likely that such doors were installed in tombs much before the Romans invaded and conquered Egypt.
