worlds smallest chicken egg Raleigh, Aug 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A pastor in West Virginia has what could be the tiniest chicken egg in the world. The chicken egg is just 2.1 centimeters and weighs 3.46 grams. Reverend Donnie Russell admitted that he was shocked when he found the egg in the woods.

He collects the eggs and gives them as donation to his church members at Rock Creek Community Church. He has taken the egg to the state Department of Agriculture where the size was certified. However for the egg to be officially recognized as the smallest in the world, an application needs to be made to the Guinness World Records.

Russell has not decided if he will go through the process to have the egg certified. The current smallest egg in the record books of Guinness is 2.7 centimeters long. Russell says he will keep the egg which he has named after his two grandsons - John Kenny Russell and Spencer Matthew Russell. The egg is called John Spencer Russell egg.

State Agriculture Commissioner Gus Douglass is amused. He said that, “West Virginia’s hills are full of surprises - we have a little bit of everything, it seems. I’m very pleased that Rev Russell and others are keeping agriculture alive in the Mountain State, and that he takes obvious pride in being a West Virginia farmer.”
