Donna Kelly was lying upside down for months to save her baby
December 21st, 2011 - 9:46 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Dec 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A mother sacrificed her comfort for three months in order to save her unborn baby. Donna Kelly was warned by doctors that the only way she was going to ensure the safety of her baby was to lie upside down.
That is exactly what the 29-year-old did for three months in a bid to save her unborn child. Kelly, a former gynecologist, was not ready to risk the baby because she had already seen two miscarriages. She followed the advice of the doctors and had the baby six weeks before her due date. The baby however survived and Kelly believes her discomfort is worth it.
She told reporters that, “I was ready to give anything a try. It made me feel sick and I had a massive headrush but after a few days my body adjusted.”
Kelly has a problem on her cervix which is responsible for the various miscarriages that she had. She explained that because her cervix is so weak, the womb could not hold the fetus. In extreme cases, Kelly says the cervix could open and the fetus would in the literal sense “fall out.”
Doctors warned Kelly to lie in the bizarre position after a scan showed that the baby was coming out.
