Los Angeles, Oct 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) With just hours for his trial to begin, Phoenix infomercial pitchman Donald Lapre was found dead in his cell. It is believed that he committed suicide. Lapre was being kept in a facility in Florence.

Officials of the facility say they found him unconscious in his cell on Sunday and all attempts to revive him failed. The police and the paramedics were called in but when they arrived, he was already dead. The name of the facility where Lapre was kept has not been named.

He was due to appear in court to answer fraud charges but he was found dead. He was facing 41-count charges related to his vitamin selling business. Lapre is the owner of the networking marketing company Greatest Vitamin in the World. His organization has about 226,794 and he promised them huge commissions on sales.

He managed to get about $51.8 million to be invested in the business by his clients and customers but officials say he paid the commission to only 5,000 people in the business. When it became apparent that he might not be able to raise the commission for the others, he was reported to the police and arrested.

His trial was expected to start on Tuesday.
