Documentary On Neda Agha Soltan To Be Aired In U.S.

neda1Tehran, June 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) For every Iranian Neda Agha Soltan is the symbol of the struggle for freedom in Iran in the wake of the last year’s election in the country in which she lost her life. Now people across the world be able to catch a glimpse of the young woman’s inspiring tale when HBO airs a documentary based on her life on Monday.

As her family and people of Iran remember Neda Agha Soltan on her first death anniversary on June 20, a film based on her life is probably one of the most befitting ways of paying a tribute to the young woman.

The HBO documentary which has been titled “For Neda” captures the life of the Neda Agha Soltan and also includes interviews with her family members for the very first time since the 26-year-old woman was killed in the anti-government protest in the city of Tehran last year.

However, few would have known back then that the tragic death of the young woman would not be going in vain as she her last moments were captured in a mobile camera which was later circulated on the internet across the world.

The video which showed Neda Agha Soltan being shot at from a point blank range gradually became an internet phenomenon which literally transformed the deceased woman to a hero who symbolized Iran’s post-election reform movement.

While talking about the documentary, producer and director Anthony Thomas added that the main aim of the film is to show that the courage displayed by Neda Agha Soltan has not been forgotten although a year has passed since her unfortunate albeit heroic demise.
