The divers are associated with Scuba Works in Jupiter, Florida, and were diving on a wreck in Palm Beach called ‘The Princess Ann’ when the incident occurred.

While diving in the beach, divers John Dickinson and Chip Garber noticed a nurse shark lying on the bottom of the ocean and it appeared to be shrunken with its head hidden. The lifeless manner in which the animal was lying in the ocean made it seem as if it was dead. However, when the divers went near it and pulled its tail, the animal sprung in action and swam away probably anticipating danger. The divers noticed that the shark had a huge pink ring around its neck which looked like a Frisbee and prevented the animal from eating anything as well as caused difficulty in breathing.

Knowing that the animal would not be able to survive if the Frisbee was left in its neck, in a rather brave move the divers decided to help the animal to get rid of the ring by grabbing it and then gave it a bear hug to remove the ring. Although the divers were aware of the fact that their attempt to help one of the most dangerous underwater creatures could have been life threatening for them, they went on with the act, which has been captured on camera.
