Sep 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The historic Lascaux cave paintings are now being showcased in the Life Magazine. And perhaps the most engaging thing about these artworks would be the manner in which they were discovered.

According to reports, two French schoolboys made an accidental discovery of breathtaking work of art in the early 1940s in a village located southwest of France. The children were hunting for rabbit with their dog and they followed a rabbit into a hole near a tree that had been uprooted.

They got into a series of caves, which are called the Lascaux. The Lascaux caves contained breathtaking paintings that were in remarkable condition. Some of those paintings were believed to have been completed 1800 years ago.

Pictures of the classic artwork were taken by Ralph Morse, who is 93 years old currently. Those pictures were predominantly about animals with some of them being chased with a stick by humans who were obviously hunting.

Those pictures, most of which have never been released are now available on LIFE.com for everyone to see after being taken over 70 years ago. Despite being so old, the paintings are a sight to behold because of their exquisite detailing.
