Oct 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A brand new record has been set by a journalist who drove a Volkswagon Passat, diesel engine car over 1500 miles on a single tank of gas. The British journalist, Gavin Conway, from The Sunday Times drove for a little over two days to get from Maidstone Kent to the south of France and most of the way back to the starting point without refueling.

That is said to be the same as driving from Los Angeles to New York. The Guinness Book of World Records said it is a new record for distance traveled by a production car on a single tank of fuel.

The official number of miles which was driven in the car was 1531. The vehicle was a standard model Passat BlueMotion with a 1.6 liter TDI engine, which has 105 horsepower. The gas tank is about a 20.3 gallon one. That is believed to be about 74.9 miles per gallon.
