Denver Post Reports Child Molestation Convict Among Early Released Prisoners

prison Denver, October 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The economic recession in the US has forced every state to cut expenditures on different programs. Colorado state had released prisoners in one of their cost cutting programs. The Denver Post in their report stated that Benn Joe Rael, a man of 51 was released when Colorado jail started to release prisoners on 22nd and 23rd September. This news alarmed everyone as Benn Joe Rael was convicted with child molestation charges. It was stated that in 1982, he had molested a child. However, he was imprisoned in the Colorado jail with the charges of non-violent theft.

Media had interviewed the parole board after they had released someone who had sexually assaulted a child. Parole board had stated that they did not have the information that the man was convicted for sex assault. David Michaud the chairman of the board stated that Rael had very few chances of committing some sexual assault again.

As stated by the sources, the cost cutting plan of Governor Bill Ritter had released many other prisoners who can be harmful for the society. It was stated that apart from sex assault convict, they have released men who had charges of robbery or cocaine distribution.

Mike May, leader of the House Minority stated that the release of prisoners showed that the cost cut program was not working. Sources stated that early release of the prisoners to save money can be harmful for the society. Evan Dreyer, the spokesperson of the governor stated that lawmakers of Republican party tried to gain political momentum from this incident. He also stated that lawmakers of Republican party were invited for balancing the budget ideas but that did not work.
