Dentist arrested after fighting with elderly woman
May 28th, 2011 - 12:48 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattFlorida, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 57-year-old dentist has been arrested after fighting an 85-year-old woman over her fake teeth. The dentist, Michael Hammonds was arrested after having a scuffle with his patient on Tuesday.
According to the court records, Virginia Graham visited Hammonds’ office to have her dentures fitted. During the procedure, Hammonds was having problem fitting the lower dentures properly. Virginia reportedly gave a scream and complained that the dentures have pierced her gum.
Not satisfied with the work that Hammonds have done, Virginia reportedly threw the dentures at him saying she didn’t want them. Shortly after that she tried to get the dentures back but Hammonds objected and refused to give it to her. In the ensuing battle, one tooth pierced Virginia’s fingers and she started bleeding. The report said Virginia then bit Hammonds on the hand before he let loose his grip on the dentures.
Virginia later told the police that when she tried to leave Hammonds’ office, he blocked her way and allegedly scolded at her. She also told the police she was scared that Hammonds might do something evil to her.
The police are considering several charges against the doctor including false imprisonment. Hammonds has since been released on a $4,000 bail bond.
