Delta Airlines Pilot Makes Emergency One Wheeled Landing at JFK
September 28th, 2010 - 1:36 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Delta Airlines pilot has been dunned a hero after he was able to safely land a passenger jet packed full of families after the right landing gear became stuck as the plane was in approach to the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.
As the plane touched down on one wheel, sparks were shooting everywhere with 60 passengers and 4 crew members braced for a crash that never came. This is because the amazing pilot was able to balance the aircraft on one wheel and eased it down onto the right wing as he landed the huge plane. “‘He must have balanced it on one wheel then eased it over to the right wing so he did a great job,”said a man who was a passenger.
In a feat which is being compared to the incredible Hudson River landing made by Chesley Sullenberger last year, this flight, Delta Airlines Flight 4951 was said to have been saved by a quick thinking, and skilled pilot. Miracles are not being ruled out. “I’ve never prayed so hard in my whole life,” said Loretta Hill, 39, from Milford in Connecticut. “I was just crying and praying to God that we would be okay.” said another.
