Delta Airlines flight makes emergency landing on JFK airport
September 27th, 2010 - 9:49 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattSep 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Delta Airlines flight made an emergency landing at the JFK airport, on just one wheel. The necessity arose because unfortunately the landing gear of the plane had gotten stuck and they were not in position to aid the pilot in making the flight.
On the Delta flight there were 60 passengers plus 4 crewmembers as well. The very capable pilot of the flight was able to land the plane safely and all the 64 people on board were totally unharmed.
When the plane was coming down on the runaway on just 1 wheel, then a burst of sparks was seen from the belly of the craft. The cause for unexpected landing is been reported that when the right gear got stuck and pilot was not able to deploy it, he had to report this to air traffic control for emergency landing.
The pilot of the flight Delta has been hailed as a hero for balancing and landing the flight on one wheel.
Jarek Beem, Atlantic Southeastern Airlines spokesman said that all the passengers in the flight were safely evacuated through main door and were taken to the terminal for security check and were shortly released.
Allesandro Albero, the pilot told that he was tense for few seconds and was thinking what if he can’t make it. Once he announced to the passengers and crew for immediate landing, people on the board starting praying and holding their loved one’s hand.
