Los Angeles, Feb 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Due to their similarities, Paczkis are often referred to as doughnuts and vice versa but there is a slight difference between the two. Over the years, Paczkis have grown from being a traditional polish pastry to a worldwide phenomenon to the extent that a whole day has been set aside for the day!

Paczkis are made from dough that have been deep-fried and laden with sweets including icing and fine powdered sugar. In addition, the dough is mixed by adding extensive amounts of milk, fats, eggs and sugar.

The world is now getting to know the sweet but Poland has been with it for centuries. Historians say the cookie has been a delicacy in Poland since the Middle ages. Records suggest that French cooks who went to Poland and served August III helped to refine how the cookies are made.

Over the years, Paczki Day has become very much part of the traditional Ash Wednesday observation. In native Poland, the day is observed a day after the Ash Wednesday but other parts of the world observe that day on a day before Ash Wednesday.

So that is it about Paczkis. If you are looking for the excuse to have some high calories, check out the Paczkis on this special day!
