Defense now alleges that Caylee Anthony drowned in pool
May 25th, 2011 - 10:58 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, May 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 25-year-old mother of Caylee Anthony says her daughter’s death was an accident. When Casey Anthony appeared before the court, she gave her account of what happened to Caylee.
According to the defense team, Caylee accidentally drowned in a swimming pool but she covered the accident up with the help of her father. Doctors failed to determine the cause of death of Caylee but investigators are convinced that there was some foul play.
Investigation took nearly three years and prosecutors have brought the charge of first-degree murder against Casey. Casey was at an Orlando court where she could be sentenced to death if she is found guilty of the charge.
The story of Caylee’s death made huge headlines in the United States. Casey kept the death of Cayee to herself until her parents found it out. It was a month before they realized that their granddaughter was dead.
Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick told the court that Casey concealed the death Caylee by living a normal life including going shopping and spending time with her boyfriend and friends.
Burdick told the court that, “Casey Anthony … appeared to be … a loving mother, trying to provide support for her daughter… But as the evidence in this case will show, that was an illusion.”
