Buffalo, April 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A deer has put its life on the line to protect a mother goose. The protective deer even goes to the extent of fighting off intruders to protect the goose who has taken shelter in an empty urn. The relationship between the two animals has baffled several observers.

The mother goose has some eggs in the urn and with no male goose, the eggs and the animal is vulnerable to predators. The adult deer has befriended the goose and observers say the arrangement is highly unlikely. Goose and deer do not have any known way to communicate.

Witnesses say the deer sleeps beside the urn that shelters the goose. As passers-by approach the urn, the deer stands up and places itself in between the deer and the intruder. At one instance the deer reportedly stood against a barking dog in a bid to protect the goose.

It is not known what would happen between the deer and the goose once they eggs are hatched. A video showing the relationship between the goose and the deer has appeared on the Internet. The video has already gone spiral.
