Debra Moriarity Speaks On Alabama Shooting

t1Huntsville, Feb 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Friday, February 12 in the University of Alabama in Huntsville a tragic incident occurred. A biology professor of the university called Amy Bishop allegedly killed 3 and severely injured 3 others, over a dispute over tenure issues. She apparently shot 6 people. One was shot in the chest while five others were shot in the head. According to reports, 2 out of them are still hospitalized and are in a critical condition while one was released. When Amy Bishop started shooting, Debra Moriarity, a member of the faculty, apparently gathered some courage and grabbed Amy Bishop’s legs in order to stop her.

According to reports, the dispute over a trivial issue made Amy Bishop lose her temper. She continued shooting for almost an hour. Debra Moriarity said that she had developed a relationship of sorts with Amy Bishop as both of them had something in common- cell cultures. Debra Moriarity said that she and Amy Bishop used to exchange study materials.

On Friday, when Amy Bishop started shooting, Debra Moriarity thought she must act immediately in order to stop her. From under the table, Debra Moriarity crawled and grabbed Amy Bishop’s legs. However, Amy Bishop overpowered Debra Moriarity and aimed to shoot her. Debra Moriarity went on pleading for mercy, saying what will happen to her daughter and her grand son. Fortunately the gun only made a “click” sound and stopped functioning at the precise moment, sparing the life of Debra Moriarity. The survivors then gave their best efforts of stopping Amy Bishop by locking the door. Police was called immediately.
