Dec. 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The opposition of the Iranian government has published in their website the news that there was the death of at least four people in the clash that took place between the police and a bunch of protesters. It had not not been made clear whether there have been any number of deaths in the clash at all or not, although a website of the opposition party, Jaras, has claimed it to be so. The site further claims that the police had used some ammunition that caused the deaths.
In fact, some images and videos that had been posted in some networking sites show an apparently injured man, wounded in the head, being carried away by some people, possibly the people of the Iranian opposition. The videos that are posted in some of the networking sites are rather immaturely shot and, and grainy as a result. Reports by the foreign media is not available, as they have been banned from covering protests.
The clashes apparently took place at Tehran, at a convention of the Shia Muslims, who had gathered to celebrate Ashoura, a festival that commemorates the death of the grandson of the prophet Muhammad. Protesters also gathered along with the crowd, chanting anti-government slogans. A huge number of the protesters had been arrested, but the names of the arrested people have not yet been given out. As a rule, unlicensed gatherings are illegal in Iran. The government itself has neither confirmed nor denied the reports of the deaths, so the matter is in a state of confusion as of yet.
