malvo March 5, 2010 (Pen Men At Work): John Gaeta, a resident of Louisiana, who was shot by Lee Boyd Malvo in 2002, has confirmed the news that he has got a remorseful letter from the penalized sniper. However, Gaeta, who said that he was surprised and pleased to see the letter, has, nonetheless, portrayed his doubts about the true intentions of Malvo.

Recently, Malvo acknowledged to the detectives of Louisiana that he had bloodied Gaeta, but believed that Gaeta had been killed in the incident. The shooting was a constituent of a binge led by John Muhammad and Malvo that led to the untimely deaths of 10 people. Gaeta’s neck was wounded in Aug 2002 as a result of a shooting outside a shopping centre in Baton Rouge. Gaeta, who has been living with the harrowing memories of the shooting, stated that the apology would help reduce his anger and bitterness. He has lived with this unpalatable reality for nearly 8 years now and scoffs at the letter saying that could be a ploy on the part of Malvo in order to lessen the severity of his punishment.

In the letter, Malvo wrote: “I am truly sorry for the pain I caused you and your loved ones. I was relieved to hear that you suffered no paralyzing injuries and that you are alive.” Malvo then printed and signed his name.
