Aug 28 (IBNS) Lost and found, after 18 years; sometimes true for a commodity but hardly credible in case of a human being!
Police said a US woman, who turned up 18 years after she was abducted as a young girl had been kept in a hidden backyard and had two children with her abductor.
The woman hass been identified as Jaycee Lee Dugard. Her parents have not seen her since she was kidnapped at age eleven.
She was discovered after a chance encounter between police and Phillip Garrido — the man believed to have kidnapped Dugard and fathered her children.
Garrido, a registered sex offender and convicted rapist, was in police custody along with his wife Nancy. A search of their home in the town of Antioch, California “revealed a hidden backyard within a backyard,” said Fred Kollar of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Sources said: The hidden backyard contained tents, sheds and outhouses, where Jaycee and the girls spent most of their lives.
Police also found a car hidden in the backyard that matched the description originally given of the vehicle driven by Dugard’s kidnappers.
Kollar said: The tents and outhouses in the backyard were placed in a strategic arrangement to inhibit outside viewing and to isolate the victims from outside contact. None of the children had ever gone to school. They (had) never been to a doctor.
