Washington, Sept 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bears’ legend Dan Hampton has snubbed an invitation by President Barack Obama saying he is not “a fan of the guy in the White House.” The president invited the Bears’ squad of 1985 to the White House to honor them for winning the Super Bowl that season. The event will take place at the White House on the 7th of October.

When he appeared on “The Mully and Hanley Show” on WSCR, Hampton told the whole of America that he was not honoring the invitation. When he was asked why he chose to stay out, he said that, “It’s my own personal choice. I’m not a fan of the guy in the White House, and, hey, it was 25 years ago. Let it go.”

The Bears’ won the Super Bowl in 1985 and had an invitation from then President Ronald Reagan. However with just two days to go to the White House, the NASA space shuttle Challenger crashed and the invitation was cancelled. The team has not got the chance to be at the White House since.

Obama is a fan of the Bears and he extended the invitation to the team to make up for the opportunity that they missed. The coach who led the Bears to the feat, Mike Ditka, has welcomed the invitation and says the team will be glad to get the recognition that they have never had.
