October 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lighting the Jack O’ Lantern on the houses is one of the important traditions of the Halloween Night. Jack O’ Lanterns are made up of pumpkin and these days several new designs are introduced for making this lantern. In many places, contests are organized for carving the best Jack O’ Lantern. Pokono Pumpkin contest has created a great hype among the people.

The organizers of the Pokono Pumpkin contest has selected two categories of pumpkin carvings for the contest. One will either have to submit the pumpkins under the cutest category or under the scariest category. Participants of the contest need to carve the pumpkin and submit its picture for the contest. The contestant who would submit the best picture will be honored with a prize. He can opt to take tickets for four people to a Sherman Theater show or gift certificate of fifty dollars to Stroudsburg’s Martina’s Cantina. The choices of the show includes Cinderella, Magic for the Menagerie or Rocky Horror Picture Show. Someone who would get the highest number of votes will be given the first choice.

Apart from the prizes, the contestants who would be declared as runners-up and winners of Pocono Pumpkin contest will be given the opportunity to feature in Pocono Record’s Halloween edition. Someone who wants to participate in this contest will have to submit the picture within 20th October, 5 p.m.
