Crystal Lewis’s 6 YR Old Son Dies During Routine Dentistry!
May 15th, 2010 - 1:58 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonMay 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Crystal Lewis lost her son, six year old Jacobi Hill, when he went in for what was supposed to be a routine dentistry procedure. Now she has asked for the help of CBS to help her find out why.
In a statement which was posted by CBS, the Virginia Commonwealth speaks on what happened with Lewis’s son Tuesday at VCU Pediatric Dental Clinic. “Virginia Commonwealth University wants to understand what happened in connection with the tragic event involving a pediatric patient. Our internal investigation continues, and we are awaiting the results of the autopsy conducted by the Virginia Office of the Medical Examiner. We have been in contact with the patient’s family, and we will continue to be available to them. VCU complies with requirements governing the administration of general anesthesia during dental procedures, and professional emergency care is immediately available in our dental clinics and facilities.”
But Ms Lewis says all she wants is answers. She was told that her 6 year old son went into cardiac arrest while she was in the waiting room at the dentist office. He was supposedly getting caps put on several teeth, after going under anesthesia, instead he was pronounced dead a short time later. Lewis says a VCU School of Dentistry administrator informed her that officials didn’t know what caused Jacobi’s death, but the boy had no medical problems. This morning, Crystal Lewis told CBS 6 Senior Reporter Wayne Covil that so far, she has not been given any answers, either from VCU Medical Center or from the Pediatric Dental Clinic.
