haiti-cruiseLabadee, Jan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) These days almost everyone is concerned for the people of Haiti, whose lives have been devastated after the deadly earthquake ruined the complete civilization of the capital city of Haiti, Port au Prince. Individuals as well as organizations from different parts of the world are doing their bit to help the victims recover from the trauma of these incidents. While the victims of the Haiti earthquake have not yet recovered from the trauma of the quake, a cruise line has docked in Labadee for a vacation in the sunny waters of the sea.

The Celebrity Solstice cruise ship, which has docked in Labadee, situated at a distance of only 60 miles from Haiti has evoked criticism of people. Many people wondered whether the cruise ship line did not have the sympathy for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Others speculated, if the cruise ship is not concerned about the safety of the passengers that it did not drop the plan of spending holiday in Labadee, just few days after the earthquake.

Though a large number of people have criticized the decision of Celebrity Solstice to dock in Haiti, the officials of the cruise line have defended themselves by saying that life has to go on and for that people need some job. They added that tourism forms a major part of the revenue and so holiday cruises are important for the people. The officials also indicated that they care about the victims of the natural disasters and have made donations to support the relief measures.
