Nov 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Luxury liner Carnival Splendor, which was stranded in Mexico due to an engine-room fire is on its way to San Diego where it is expected to reach on Thursday. The thousands of passengers who have been stranded in the ship for days now have been provided with fresh water and Spam which was delivered to the cruise ship by the U.S. army.

The news that Carnival Splendor would be reaching San Diego on Thursday was confirmed by Gerry Cahill, the CEO of the Carnival Cruise Lines in a press conference that was held on Wednesday. While talking about the steps that has been taken to bring the passengers to safety, Gerry Cahill also went on to say that as the boat has been without power, the decision was taken to wait until daylight to deliver Carnival Splendor to the dock with the help of five tugboats. Moreover, the Carnival Cruise Lines CEO also added that as the ship near the coast, the passengers aboard will be able to receive “intermittent cellular service.” The USS Ronald Reagan delivered the basic supplies such as food and water to the ship on late Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the company has revealed to the media that all the crew members aboard the ship are trying their best to make all the passengers comfortable. Moreover, the company spokesperson went on to add that flight, bus, as well as hotel arrangements were being made for the passengers after they land in San Diego. Carnival has already promised the passengers that it would be offering them a refund as well as a free cruise.
