Sep 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As last season of ‘Criminal Minds’ ended, fans were left in suspense when it came to the life of one of the officers, Matt Spicer. Spicer’s life had started off simply enough, with Joe and Sylvia Spicer as his parents, and a little sister named Kristin, but his life was changed the night his parents were killed.

A serial killer who was later dubbed ‘The Prince of Darkness’ broke into young Matt’s home, raped his mother and killed his parents in front of him and his sister. The children went to live with their grandparents, and were told that their parents died in a car wreck. Although Kristen was too young to remember, Matt had to suppress those memories and chose to live with the fantasy than face the reality. He grew up to become a police detective for the California PD.

In the last show ‘Our Darkest Hour’ the Prince of Darkness had returned, and had been traveling all over the country, murdering families for 26 years. The team was soon all over him, and Garcia discovered the truth about Spicer’s history. They soon began to realize that the killer was recreating his crimes, and was going to come back for Matt, and his family.

Matt went to protect his family, as the city experienced a power outage which prevented him from calling for help. Derek soon figured out where Matt had gone, and went after him. But the Prince of Darkness took them all hostage, and Derek had to witness the gruesomeness to follow. The killer raped Kristin, and beat her badly, and shot Matt in the chest, taking Matt’s 8 year old daughter, Ellie with him. That is where last season left off.

As last night’s show continued, viewers discovered that Matt Spicer was dead. Kristen died soon after being taken to the hospital, and Ellie was being drug around by The Prince of Darkness, and forced to watch as he murdered innocent families.

The team had to use all of their resources in order to track the killer down, and try to save the little girl. Ellie, in the meantime, was very intelligent and showed the killer no fear. This is what likely saved her life until the team could reach her, since fear is what often set off the Prince of Darkness.

Jennifer managed to arrange it so that she could speak over the airways, since the killer was an avid listener to the radio news about himself. Jennifer told him that she knew about his own childhood, and how his mother had mistreated him. She also told him that he should not be making Ellie feel what he had to feel.

He soon let Ellie go, and forced Derek to have to kill him, when he asked Derek to come in where he had a family held hostage. He raised his gun toward Derek while talking, and Derek took him down.

So this season will begin without Detective Matt Spicer…and without The Prince of Darkness.
