Couple fake kidnapping so that they could get money from their parents

A couple based in Long Island faked their own kidnapping, so that they could some money from their parents easily. The couple comprised of a 21 year old woman and her 24-year-old boyfriend.
The duo staged their own kidnapping and made multiple phone calls to the woman’s parents and they said that two armed men had kidnapped them. The boyfriend said to his girlfriend’s mother that the abductors had released him, but the kidnappers had said that they would harm their daughter, if the ransom amount were not paid to them.
The incident happened on Sunday. The Suffolk County police investigated the incident and learnt that the whole kidnapping drama was a fake, and was just a means to earn some quick money. The couple was also arrested after the investigation. They have been charged with grand larceny and conspiracy.
