July 6, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): There has been a disagreement over the estate of the departed Bobby Fischer, who is one of the legendary personalities of chess. Therefore, the Icelandic authorities dug up the remains of Bobby Fischer in order to execute a paternity test with the intention of terminating the disagreement over his estate.
Fischer had been interred in the southern Icelandic town of Selfoss. The sheriff in that town, Olafur Helgi Kjartansson, has divulged to the AFP that Fischer’s corpse was disinterred in an immensely proficient and decorous manner. Bequeathing respect to the deceased Fischer was a priority. Fischer had breathed his last breath in January 2008 at the age of 64. A physician and a priest were there during the disinterment of the corpse.
The Icelandic Supreme Court (SC) had endorsed, in June, the disinterment of Fischer’s corpse in order to examine his DNA and verify whether he was the father of 9-year-old Jinky Young, from the Philippines, as her Mom has asserted.
Fischer’s estate is projected to be of the value of approximately 2 million dollars and is claimed by three entities as well as Young. The first entity happens to be the two American sons of Fischer’s sister. The second entity happens to be the Japanese, Myoko Watai, who has proclaimed that she is his wife. The American government happens to be the third entity, which has stated that Fischer owes them unpaid taxes.
Fischer, born in America, became the center of concentration of the world on trouncing the Soviet world champion, Boris Spassky, in their face-off in Reykjavik in 1972. The Cold War was being played out in the world then between the alliance led by the capitalistic America and the alliance directed by the Communist Soviet Union.
Fischer’s brilliance was, however, a troubled one that resulted in his life running downward gradually since his moment of triumph in 1972. Some analysts have labeled Fischer as the preeminent chess player ever.
Fischer was desired by the law enforcement authorities for disrespecting global sanctions by participating in a chess match in Yugoslavia in 1992. Fischer was recognized for his histrionics and his exaggerated demands. He had a Jewish Mom but was culpable for the perpetration of offensive anti-Semitic observations. He utilized broadcasts at far-off radio stations to point the finger at Jews for everything from his judicial misery to a supposed plot to put an end to elephants.
His speech against America became immensely provocative and he attained the concentration of the media on September 11, 2001, when he dialed the number of a Filipino radio station to express his contentment about the terrorist outrages on America. He then initiated a profane anti-Jewish invective.
In 2004, Fischer was apprehended at Tokyo’s Narita airport for journeying on a passport, which Washington mentioned had been invalidated. Japanese officials discussed for months whether to deport him to America. Iceland then salvaged Fischer and granted him Icelandic nationality as a mark of respect for giving fame to Iceland in 1972.
