Colorado Wildfire Still Threatening, 8 People Missing

Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Colorado wildfire is hogging the attention of the media now and as per the latest updates eight people are missing. These people did not want to be evacuated. The rescue workers are carrying on their work. After its outbreak the menacing fire has destroyed more than 53 homes and burnt over 2498 hector of land on its way. So far 3000 people has been shifted to safer paces as the authorities have reported. Bill Ritter the governor of the state has announced an emergency and also said that close to 5 million dollars will be spent in rescue and relief operations. A federal firefighting grant has been promised by Federal emergency authorities.
The governor also appealed to the evacuated people to be patient and asked for co operation. He added that the situation is rather volatile but the authorities are trying their level best to tackle the fire. To add to the chaos, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has warned about the possibility of increasing instances of asthma and respiratory ailments. These health hazards can be triggered by the smoke generated by the wildfire. The smoke may contain fine particles that may cause respiratory and breathing problems in asthma patients and others.
It is not known what led to the fire. Some of the Colorado residents are anxious and they want to find out the status of their homes. His is said to be one of the most devastating wildfires in the history of the state. Joe Pelle the Boulder County Sheriff also echoed the view of the state’s governor.
