Colorado-based soldier from Michigan killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — A Colorado-based soldier from Michigan was killed in southern Afghanistan last week, the U.S. Department of Defense confirmed on Wednesday.

Sergeant Michael K. Ingram Jr., 23, of Monroe, Michigan was killed last Saturday. He died of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Ingram was the 92nd U.S. service member to die in Afghanistan so far this year, according to a BNO News count based on official figures. A total of 156 coalition service member have died in Afghanistan so far this year, 93 of whom were from the United States.
