shortest man Bogota, Sep 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world has a new shortest man after the death of China’s He Pingping. Officials from Guinness World Records spotted the Colombian man after the death of Pingping.

The man, Edward Nino Hernandez, is a mere 70.21 cm. In fact, Nino (meaning a child in Spanish) is 4 cm shorter than the previous Guinness World Record holder.

But Nino might not continue to be the official shortest man for long. In fact the man who stands at 2ft 3inches might reign shorter than his height. Another teenager who stands at 2 inches shorter than Nino will be 18 years old on October and thus become the new shortest man on the planet.

Khagendra Thapa Magar, who is currently just 17 years old and belongs to Nepal will become the new shortest man on the planet if he survives up to October 14th, which is his birthday.

But Nino is not perturbed with the prospect of losing his reign as the world’s shortest man on such a small time. He maintains that he is happy he was recognized in the first place and says that every person is unique and different.

Nino will be featured in 2011’s edition of the Guinness World Record book.
