CollegeACB Becomes A Forum For Discussing The Taboo For College Students

Dec.16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) While the Internet has allowed people to reach out to anyone they want, it also brought along appropriate instances of misuse. One classic instance is the site CollegeACB.com. The word means College Anonymous Confession Board. It began its journey as an online platform for students to write the problems they are facing in campus and otherwise. However, it has become a gossip site where the students post their suppressed sexual fantasies and promiscuity. It can be compared to an electronic bathroom wall, replete with vulgar thoughts and scraps. Ever since the well known gossip site named JuicyCampus.com was closed, this site started filling its void. Unfortunately the students who post scraps and mails on this site does not understand the impact their act can create.
It is quite ironical that conventional media like TV, newspaper and magazines have to abide by certain rules for the content they publish but website owners get spared to a large extent. As a matter of fact, Juicy Campus went off not because of any lawsuit filed against it. The site could not garner adequate advertising. The colleges and universities try to help students for various types of problems. However, counseling and workshop based approaches are safer than online methods, as the experts feel.
The students need to understand the impact of posting the private details of their lives on such gossip sites. Not all information published in such sites are credible. It is much better to talk to a counselor or psychologist to deal with a problem related to academics or personal life.
