Clint McCance’s Outrageous Anti-Gay Comments Spark Controversy

Oct 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Midland School District Vice President Clint McCance has sparked a new controversy after he made certain anti-gay comments on the social-networking site Facebook. The school board member has attracted ire from various quarter after he took to Facebook to express his discontent for the gay and lesbian community urging them to commit suicide. The outrageous comments made by Clint McCance has been criticized by the Arkansas Department of Education which has slammed the school board member for posting such insensitive content on a public forum such as Facebook.
Arkansas Department of Education’s director of communications, Julie Thompson released a statement in which it was added that the department was dismayed that a school board member had posted such an outrageous message on the social-networking site. The statement read that the department would not be able to deal with Clint McCance directly as he is an elected official although the school staff would be keeping a close eye to ensure that none of the students are bullied due to the controversial comments made by the board member. The outrageous comments that were made by Clint McCance were in response to Spirit Day that was observed on October 20, urging people to wear purple in order to give recognition to the cause of gays who are bullied in the wake of several suicide cases.
On his Facebook post, Clint McCance said that the only way which could make him wear purple was if all the gay youths committed suicide. The school board member also went on say that if his own children turned out to be gay then he would not think twice before disowning them.
