CHP Initiates Probe In Redlands Truck Crash Case

chpRedlands, California, May 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A vehicle carrying as may as 160 cows is said to have overturned after colliding with a pick-up truck on Interstate 10 in the southern part of California on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) authorities. It has been further stated that around 70 cows has been killed or have suffered injuries owing to the incident. As a result of the accident, the eastbound freeway was reportedly shut down for at least four hours which caused huge inconvenience to the commuters.

While revealing details of the accident, officials of the California Highway Patrol revealed that the collision between the two vehicles occurred at around 2:30 p.m in Redlands, California on Thursday afternoon. Although none of the drivers of the vehicles is said to have received injuries, a number of animals which were being carried in the tractor-trailer were injured while some of them even died. The Redlands Fire Department immediately responded after it was intimated about the crash and the rescue officials swung into actions so that the cows which are trapped inside the vehicle could be rescued as early as possible.

At the same time, Brian Cronin, the chief of San Bernardino County Animal Control has revealed to news sources that veterinary doctors are providing treatment to the injured animals while following the accident, the top of the trailer was chopped off in order to rescue the animals which were trapped inside. In the meanwhile, a thorough investigation has been undertaken by CHP officials in the case with the aim of shedding light into the circumstances that led to the accident.
