Chocolate Powered and Veggie Made Race-car?
March 11th, 2010 - 3:47 am ICT by Angela Kaye Mason ( Leave a comment )Mar 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A team based at Warwick University, the Warwick Innovative Manufacturing Research Team has unveiled a Formula Three Type Race car that is entirely made up of food products! The body of the car id made from potatoes, the steering wheel is made out of carrots, the seat is made out of flax fiber and soybean oil foam, and it uses chocolate for fuel.
Although the car is not legal to race in the F3 series, since chocolate based fuel is not (yet) on the approved list of energy sources, the car is still a fun, and thrilling accomplishment. The team set out to prove that green racing is not always boring. And they have!
The car, which is made of recycled materials combined with fruit and vegetable extracts, will hit up to 145 miles an hour! The earth friendly fruits and vegetables are combined in a way to create composites which mimic the materials and lubricants in regular race cars, such as carbon fibers, plastics, and oil. The emissions from this car can actually clean the air. It runs on chocolate wastes and vegetable oils that has been turned into biofuel.
