November 14th, 2009 - 9:22 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Tell a Friend -

Charla Nash Chicago, Nov 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Connecticut inhabitant Charla Nash who was attacked by a chimpanzee and is now severely disfigured has finally opened up and revealed her injuries on national television, in Oprah Winfrey’s show.

Charla Nash allowed Oprah Winfrey to take off her hat and veil and reveal her severely disfigured face to the world. The brutal chimp attack happened in mid-February and has severely affected Charla Nash as now she is without her hands, nose, lips and sight. “I don’t ask a whole lot about my injuries… I know that I have my forehead,” she said. She now drinks her meals “with a straw through a small hole where her mouth used to be.”

In retaliation, Charla Nash’s family has filed a huge $50 million lawsuit against the chimp’s owner Sandra Herold. Sandra had asked Charla Nash to help entice the huge 200-pound pet chimpanzee called as Travis, back into her Stamford, Conn. home on Feb. 16. Then the chimpanzee apparently attacked Charla Nash and in a brutal 12-minute attack, completely mauled her and even started eating her. These brutal 12 minutes changed Charla’s life completely.

She is without sight and totally dependant on others but surprisingly she seems like a very positive person as she doesn’t reflect on what happened, but rather wants to focus on the future. According to doctors, a complete face transplant is the only option for her.
