Chilean President Congratulates Rescued Miners, Vows To Enhance Mine Safety

r624942_4236440114 Oct, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Now that the trapped miners in Chile have been set free the attention of the media is now turning to the long term effect of the calamity in the country. President Sebastian Pinera is a relieved man now with the rescue operation completed successfully. He is now gearing up for his Europe visit that was put on hold. The president attended the rescue operation yesterday and he was accompanied by his wife who provided mental support and solidarity to the family members of those miners. The president greeted the miners as they emerged from the rescue capsule one by one. He has vowed to tackle the recurring problems bugging the mining industry of the country.

The President also conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the rescue team and people who worked relentlessly to make the rescue process streamlined and successful. The president said in a statement that the mental strength of the trapped miners and their family members have made him feel proud as the leader of the nation. The ordeal of the team of miners trapped in San Jose mine lasted for a period of 69 days. Luis Urzua was the last miner who was brought back to safety and the president praised his strength and tenacity as well.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said that Luis Urzua acted like a good captain. He praised the 54 year old miner for his practical decisions like rationing food and keeping the team motivated. The president was also happy that the rescue work took less than expected time add it was wrapped up in less than 1 day.
