Chilean MinersOct 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It has been a really long wait for the families of the trapped Chilean miners who had been praying all these days for the recovery of their loved ones. The 33 miners were trapped for 69 days 700 meters below a copper mine located at the Atacama desert. The rescue was a painfully slow and complicated process but the fruits of the efforts have started showing. The first miner to be brought safely was Florencio Avalos Silva. Many of the people waiting above the ground moved to tears when he came out. Sebastian Pinera the Chilean President said that he felt proud at seeing the trapped miners coming out of the depth alive albeit slowly.

The second miner who was brought to safety was Mario Sepulveda. After making it to the surface he embraced his wife. He had brought 4 rocks with him as souvenirs of the tenure underground. He gave the rocks to the president and the rescue workers. After some time the third miner the 52 year old Juan Illanes was brought to safety. He was greeted by his wife who could not hold back her tears. Next was the turn of 24 year old Carlos Mamani Solis who became the 4th miner to be rescued. He is incidentally the only Bolivian among the miners.

He was given a warm welcome by his toddler daughter and his young wife. They cried out in pleasure when he emerged from the capsule. The rescue of the miners is still in progress and it is expected that their days of ordeal and fear have finally come to an end.
