Concepcion, Mar 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was a strong aftershock after Chile’s massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake, and it spread panic amongst the residents of the city of Concepcion. However it was not a serious issue, as nobody was reported to have been injured, and no fatalities were also reported. Till now, there has been no report of any damage either. A tsunami warning was also not issued, after the aftershock.
However when the earthquake survivors felt the aftershock, then they started running for safety, as visions of the deadly earthquake and its consequences flashed before their eyes. However, the residents could heave a sigh of relief, when the fire officials used loudspeakers to assure the people that a tsunami was not expected this time around. The United States geological Survey said that the aftershock had a preliminary magnitude of 5.9
In another major development related to the Chile earthquake, scientists at NASA think that the massive Chile earthquake might have shifted the Earth’s axis, which might be responsible for shortening the days. The change is very little, hardly perceivable but all the same, it is permanent. Scientists at NASA say that now the days are shorter by 1.26 microseconds, according to some preliminary calculations.
