Chicago, Nov 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A dead body pulled from the Chicago River early Monday is believed to be of Chicago School Board President’s Michael Scott. It is being reported that apparently he shot himself in the head.

Michael Scott’s family had reported him missing since Sunday night. Police investigated and found his body floating in the river’s north branch near the Merchandise Mart in the wee hours of the morning. The Chicago Tribune reported Monday that Chicago School Board’s President Michael Scott shot himself in the head and fell forward into the river. The gun was found near his body, the Tribune reports, citing unnamed “police sources.”

Near the place where his body was found, a blue Cadillac was parked which was investigated and found to be registered to Scott.

The reason for his apparent suicide was that he was recently involved in questionable real estate dealings near the would-be sight of the Chicago Olympics. Michael Scott was also subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury about the admission practices of Chicago’s elite schools, of which Scott was the President. He was serving his second term as the School Board’s President.
