Chicago man sentenced for crack cocaine distribution in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (BNO NEWS) – A Chicago resident was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment for crack cocaine conviction in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Timothy Dwight Wiggins, 27, was stopped by police officers for speeding on December 19, 2008. A later search resulted in the finding of a bag with 80.3 grams of crack cocaine that fell from inside his pants.

After Wiggins admitted that he intended to distribute the cocaine he pleaded guilty of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine on August 28, 2009.

The defendant was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison after being previously convicted for a drug offense.
