Oct 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Tuesday morning a group of militants attacked the parliament in Russia’s republic of Chechnya killing more than three people and injuring at least 13 others, as it has been reported. A car which had rebels in it manged to sneak in amidst the convoy with lawmakers. One of them were suicide bomber and blew himself up. The remaining duo ran towards the Parliament. The incident prompted the government to evacuate the parliament building and Ramzan Kadyrov the Chechen leader began an operation to trace and finish the militants. He also informed Vladimir Putin the Russian Prime minister about the developments.
The Parliament attack is the second grave terrorist assault in Chechnya in recent times. Earlier Tsentroi which is the home village of Ramzan Kadyrov was attacked by a suicide bombers squad. The region went through two separatist wars in the last 2 decades. Reportedly the parliament attackers shouted Islamic slogans before running into the parliament buildings and starting firing on others. As per the latest reports the hostages have been freed and taken to safety.
Reportedly the gunfire at the Chechnya parliament had lasted for close to 30 minutes. After the shooting the city was sealed off and patrolling on the street was intensified. Even though violence is not uncommon in Chechnya the attack of Tuesday was bold and unexpected to say the least. Rashid Nurgaliyev the Russian interior minister heaped praise on the prompt action taken by the riot police to tackle the militants. He said that the cops managed to prevent severe damage and loss of lives. The city is still tense and under observation.
