Charges filed against David Coleman Headley in the 26/11 attacks

Illinois, Dec 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was a huge terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26/11 last year that killed approximately 170 people, including six Americans, and injured hundreds. David Coleman Headley, who is a U.S. citizen conducted massive logistical surveillance of the proposed terrorist targets in India’s financial capital Mumbai for more than two years prior to the 26th November 2008 terrorist attack. This was revealed in the new federal charges that were filed today against him.
David Coleman Headley allegedly got the technical know-how of terrorism by attending terrorism-training camps in Pakistan, which are run by the notorious Lashkar e Tayyiba (Lashkar). He was embroiled in a full-fledged conspiracy with its members and other people in laying the foundation of the terrorist attack in India and in Denmark too, over another issue, federal law enforcement officials announced today.
“This in fulfillment of President Barack Obama’s commitment to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to the US to cooperate closely in the case,” the US spokesperson said.
A joint US and Indian team held discussions with the officials of Home Ministry and National Investigating Agency, which is looking into and investigating the role of David Headley and his accomplice Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Paksitani-Canadian both of whom were arrested by FBI in October this year for plotting terror attacks in India and Denmark.
Besides sharing the interrogation report, which detailed his “role” in 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, US Embassy spokesperson in New Delhi, Elizabeth Fitzsimmons, said that the joint team also briefed the Indian investigators on Headley’s alleged role in plotting an attack on a newspaper in Denmark.
According to the court records the forty-nine year old Headley, was charged in a 12-count criminal information with six counts of conspiracy to bomb public places in India, to murder and maim persons in India and Denmark, to provide material support to foreign terrorist plots, and to provide material support to Lashkar, and six counts of aiding and abetting the murder of U.S. citizens in India.
